In 2004, when he turned 50, Bob Holt decided to undertake charitable walks in aid of the Bobby Moore Fund. This started in September 2004 when Bob and 40 of his friends spent 2 days walking 25 miles of the Cotswold Way. Over £57,000 was raised for the charity.
In September 2005, Bob undertook the 186 mile long Thames Path Walk, joined by 100 plus colleagues from Mears Group and other organisations, raising over £50,000 for the charity.
In 2007 and 2008, Bob again walked the Thames Path, along with Mears Group colleagues and in partnership with Travis Perkins, raising a further £75,000 for the Bobby Moore Fund.
During 2009 and 2010, Bob continued with his walks of the Ulster Way, Hadrians Wall and Thames Path. 2010 also saw the addition of a new walk, the South Downs Way.
The Footprints Foundation charity was set up by Bob in 2008 in order to support worthwhile charities. Since that time, Footprints has donated many thousands of pounds to a wide range of charities.
